This is your chance to get a step-by-step intro to fusing metals with MIG or TIG welding. No prior experience is necessary*! 18+ participants only.
Both courses are designed for beginners and provide hands-on experience with professional equipment. Please be aware that TIG is a more challenging discipline to learn. If you are an absolute beginner looking for your first-ever welding experience MIG is the best option for you!
MIG works great for larger workpieces and thicker materials. It's easy to learn and will give you great results fast for many metal fabrication projects. Intro To MIG is one of our most popular classes — don't miss out on the fun! This class is especially beginner-friendly. A great place to get started!
Learn More About MIG Learn MoreLearn the fine art of TIG welding for a clean and refined finish for metal projects. TIG offers greater control during the welding process and the results are strong, precise, and aesthetically pleasing welds. These courses are an enjoyable and exciting way to get started with TIG welding, however, we recommend that you have previous welding experience or that you know that TIG is the specific skill you need to learn.
Learn More About TIG Learn MoreFor an absolute beginner, MIG welding is the best starting point because it is much easier to learn. MIG welding functions like a glue gun: the machine automatically feeds a consumable wire electrode through the torch when you pull the trigger, allowing you to operate it with just one hand. It is fast, forgiving on metal settings, and lets you focus entirely on your movement and speed.
In contrast, TIG welding is best reserved for those with more experience. TIG welding requires intense coordination because it is a strict two-handed operation. One hand manipulates the torch containing a non-consumable tungsten electrode, the other hand manually feeds a separate filler rod into the weld pool, and your foot simultaneously operates a pedal to control the heat amperage. While TIG delivers unmatched precision, control, and beautiful aesthetic joints, its steep learning curve makes it frustrating for a novice.
